Roy's brother, William, enlisted on January 7, 1916 and served with the 13th Battalion. He was wounded (shell shock and eye injury) on August 11, 1916 and reported missing on April 11, 1917 during the Battle of Bullecourt. A court of enquiry on October 8, 1917 found that he was killed in action. His body was never found. Roy and William were both in France and Belgium from June, 1916 to March, 1917, but it is not know if the brothers met up.
