In April 1918 HMS Magic was on patrol off the coast of Northern Ireland in the approaches to the North Sea. She hit a mine about 2.5kms ENE off Fanad Head on the north coast of Ireland. From log of RFA Racer, 10 April 1918 “HMS MAGIC was mined off Lough Foyle, Ireland and had her bows completely blown off with about 15 lives lost.” She did not sink, and was towed into Lough Swilly.
