His family

His family

When Arthur's mother, Eliza, died in 1908 he went to live at 57 Stanacre Place, Bradford with John and Jane Ann Muff (nee Ackroyd) his sister, who was my grandmother and was 20 years older than Arthur. They had two children of their own, who told me that Arthur became like an older brother to them and very much part of the family. Arthur's medals have passed down the family and are now in my possession. I visited his grave in Poperinge Military Cemetery in 2005. What a lovely peaceful place it was on that Sunday morning.
