Poem of Remembrance

IN MEMORY OF 2ND-LIEUT C.E.V. AWDRY. KILLED IN ACTION O merriest of the old merry crew, Never a speck upon the blue, Never a cloud on heart of you;􏰀 Young Awdry. When hours were long, and work was rude, Arid boys sat round in listless mood, To see your pleasant face was good, Young Awdry. To toilers in the great retreat, Weary and worn, but never beat, Your eye laughed victory, not defeat, Young Awdry. When Death, who spares nor great, nor small, Drew nigh, and sword in hand you fall, He took the sunniest heart of all, Young Awdry. John Bain
