Bertie Wooster Connection

Bertie Wooster Connection

Terry Carter author of "Birmingham Pals" wrote: A Yorkshire man by birth (his parents lived in Craven Street, Ravensthorpe, near Dewsbury), Percy had been playing in the Birmingham League for Moseley before making his debut against Australia in 1912. Before enlisting into the 2nd Birmingham Battalion, Percy Jeeves had played forty-nine matches for Warwickshire. It was said Percy Jeeves was cetain to be one of England's greatest cricketers, in fact the author P G Wodehouse was so impressed after seeing Percy play one afternoon, he decided to use Percy's name for the butler in his celebrated 'Bertie Wooster' novels.
