Lives of the First World War

7th March 1895 - 3rd August 1914

Charles was born on 7th March 1895 the fifth son of Hamblet and Emily Louise Roberts. His brothers and sisters were: William, Fred, Millicent, Arthur, Ernest, Edwin, Frank, Edith and Oliver. Before the war he lived with his parents at 52 Hayes Road, Cadishead and worked at the CWS Soap Works, Irlam. Three of his brothers served in the Army: Private Ernest Roberts, Lancashire Fusiliers; Private Edwin Roberts, Cheshire Regiment and Private Frank Roberts (regiment unknown). His nephew, George, served in the Mercantile Marine.
