Charles was described as ‘a fine type of British soldier from a greatly respected family in Cadishead.’ He was only 23 years old and had been at war for over 3 years. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial (France), Irlam and Cadishead panel of the CWS Memorial, Irlam and Cadishead War Memorial (Prince's Park) and the Roll of Honour of Cadishead Wesleyan Sunday School and Church.
