John Campbell Brief Biog

John Campbell was the eldest son of Hugh Andrew and Annie Campbell and was born in c1887 in Walton on the Hill, Liverpool. His father Hugh Andrew Campbell (1861 - 1932) and his mother, born as Annie Stott (1860 - 1930), were both born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, and were married there in 1883. By 1911they had had 3 children, of whom 2 boys had survived, both born in Liverpool. In 1891 the family lived at 60 Roxburgh St, Walton, and the father was a fitter. By 1901 John had moved with the family to Fleetwood to 27 Kemp St, his father was a marine engineer. In 1910 John married Norah (registered as Laura) Enright (1885 - 1964) at St Peter's, Fleetwood. In 1911 John, a house painter, and his wife boarded at 42 Upper Dock St, Fleetwood. His parents and brother lived at Kemp St. Children: a son John was born in 1912 in Fleetwood. His widow married Thomas Alexander McAllister in 1919 and lived in Chorley. He served in the King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) "H" Company 1st/5th Battalion No. 2012. He enlisted at Fleetwood, serving first in France, entering there on 14/2/1915. Medals: 15-Star; Victory; British War. On 9 May 1915 he was killed in action in Flanders, age 28. He is commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West Flanders, Belgium., Panel 12, Fleetwood Memorial Park and Fleetwood Congregational Church plaque.
