The Wunsch Brothers

The Wunsch Brothers

Godfrey's Canadia Attestation papers state that he had previous experience in the Army, three years with the 7th City of London Regiment and sixteen months with the 5th Cheshire Regiment. No records of his whereabouts on the 1911 census can be traced, but the Canadian Passenger lists for the ship Victorian, arriving at the post of Halifax Nova Scotia on the 23rd March 1912, reveal that Godfrey was aboard together with his brother Arnold Edward. Both are bound for Winnipeg and both declare themselves as engineers. Arnold obviously returns to the UK as his medal card shows that he served as a Lt in the R.F.A and then the R.F.Corp. Godfrey's elder brother also served in WW1. The medal card of Theodore Vincent Wunsch reveal his service as a Captain in the Royal Scots Regiment, from an early date as he is awarded the 14-15 star.
