Killearn:- Private James Valentine A & SH was seriously wounded in the head in recent fighting in France. He was in hospital in France for about four days when he succumbed to his injuries. He was a native of Lunan Bay and had been head gardener to Lieut Colonel Blackburn of Killearn for about 2 years. He is survived by his wife, having married since he entered the service of Col Blackburn. He was recently transferred from A & SH to the Royal Scots and had only been in France on active service about a fortnight. Picture 23 November.
