James Bridges was born in Clutton in the December 1895 Qtr (GRO Reference Vol 5c page 491), his parents were William John & Eliza Ann Bridges of 10 Council Houses, Farmborough, Bath. In the 1911 Census James is recorded as living at Hobbs Wall, Farmborough, age 15, a carting boy (below ground) He was in the 8th Battalion of (Prince Albert’s) the Somerset Light Infantry and his service number was 10841
