Named on Cranham's War Memorial

Henry Fishenden is one of nine men named on the War Memorial inside All Saints' Church, Cranham, Essex. His connection with the parish is not clear - he was born in Kent, brought up in Suffolk, and working in Surrey in 1911. Ruvigny's Roll of Honour records that 'he volunteered for active service, and joined the RNVR in April 1915'. He served on HMS Virginian and HMS Queen Empress, and finally on HMS Racoon, a destroyer launched in 1910, and one of the last coal-burning destroyers in the Royal Navy.
