My name is Anthony Foreman living in Melbourne Victoria,Australia.Lister was my Great uncle (my grandfathers brothers son).He was born in Charlton Victoria on 26th of February 1891.His parents were John Edward Foreman and Agnes Helena Foreman,nee Croft.His Father passed away in 1909 and the family moved to Park Street South Melbourne.Lister worked as a rubber worker in the Dunlop tyre factory in Port Melbourne,later moving to the town of Emerald, a small town in the Dandenong ranges where he was employed as a nursery man.He enlisted at Emerald in the A.I.F on the 7th.October 1916,his unit was the 37th Battalion 1st. A.I.F. He embarked on the troopship Ballarat on the 19th.February 1917 for training at camp Durrington England U.K. and then on to France landing on the 31st. August 1917.He marched out for the front line on the 12th. September and arrived on the 15th. September 1917.Lister was killed in action on the 4th.October 1917 at the battle of Passchendale his burial place is unknown but his name is recorded on the Meningate memorial..
