The link provided leads to a PDF for Stanley (and his brother). Here is more detail about the project "801 WOMEN In 1916, Newfoundland had a population of 240, 000 people. On July 1st, about 801 members of the first Newfoundland Regiment went into battle- The Battle of the Somme. The next day only 68 of these young boys and men were able to answer role call. 256 dead 286 wounded 91 missing A century later, 801 Newfoundland and Labrador women want to recognize, remember and celebrate the lives of the 801 Newfoundland and Labrador men who answered the call to battle on July 1st, 1916. There was a magnificent display of trained and disciplined valour and its assault only failed to succeed because the dead men could advance no further. On July 1st 2016, Opera on the Avalon is presenting a new opera, “Ours,” to tell the historical and captivating story of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. This is an exciting project written by award winning playright Robert Chafe and internationally acclaimed composer John Estacio. This is an opportunity not only to tell the Beaumont Hamel story, but say thank you again to those 801 Young Men. Let 801 of us pledge $100 each to fund this production of “Ours.” copied from the website with thanks.
