Thomas Alexander Abraham

Thomas Alexander Abraham

Thomas was born on the 12th Feb 1878 to Robert Abraham and Margaret Jane Drennan, in the village of Pettigo, Ireland. He had one sibling, Sarah Jane Abraham. At the age of 18, in 1894 he joined the Royal Garrison Artillery for 12 years. In this time he served in England, Singapore and Hong Kong and was present when the 100 year lease was signed by the British for Hong Kong. After serving his 12 years he settled in Scotland and rejoined the Royal Garrison Artillery as a reservist for 4 years. During this time he was a Police Officer (for 3 months) and worked as a diver for the Clyde Trust. In 1915 Thomas joined the army again (he didn't have to, he was exempt as he had already served in the army). He joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and was sent to Gallipoli. He arrived on August 2nd 1915 and was killed on the 28th August 1915 during a operation to straighten trenches near Sulva Bay. Thomas Alexander Abraham was my Great Grandfather and is remembered by several generations down to his great, great grandchildren.
