Private Saunder's funeral took place at Witton Cemetery on 13th July 1916. On Friday 14 July 1916 The Birmingham Gazette reported " The funeral took place yesterday at Witton Cemetery with military honours, of Pte. Franklin Saunders, of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, of Reginald road Saltley, who died in the Leeds Hospital a few days ago from wounds received while In the trenches on 26 December last. He was nineteen years of age. He joined the Army at the outbreak of war before he attained his eighteenth birthday."
