Active Service

On Landing in England, William was attached to the 1st Training Battalion from 22 Reinforcements, where he remained until 4 April 1917 when he left England via Folkestone on his was to France. On 6 April 1917 he marched to Etaples, where he remained until 21 April 1917 when he marched to and on 23 April 1917 was taken on strength for his unit the 3rd Battalion Australian Imperial Force. Two weeks later on the 15 May 1917 he was dead, killed in action.
