REPEATED LORDS PRAYER Chaplain's Story of Dying Grovesend Soldier. The death in action is announced of Private Walter James Evans, 12721 Machine Gun Section 9th Devon Regiment, youngest son of Mrs. Sarah Evans widow, of Brinlliw, Grovesend, Pontardulais. The Rev. J. M. S. Stalker, Church of England chaplain at the 21st Clearing Station, British Expeditionary Force in France writes "I laid your son's body to rest. We were all very proud of him. because he was so grateful for the, least thing done for him. He had been seriously wounded in the thigh by a German hand grenade. I well remember after an operation he was repeating the Lord's Prayer, sentence by sentence, after me. The whole ward was absolutely still, even his poor fellow sufferers checked their groans until he had finished.".
