Private Harold Francis Magretts

HAROLD FRANCIS MARGETTS was serving as a Private in the 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry when he was killed in action during the Arras offensive on 24th April 1917 aged 21. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial for those with no known grave. He was the son, one of six children of Philip and Martha Margetts of 15 Distons Lane, Chipping Norton. At the time of enlistment he was living in Bridgewater, Somerset where he worked as an assistant grocer. He arrived in France on 14th August 1914. He is also commemorated on the Bridgewater war memorial.
