Lives of the First World War

Dick Travis is my Great Uncle He was my Grand mothers brother. Clara Agnes Bockett He was born in Opotiki NZ. Dickson Cornelius Savage. I spent a lot of my school holidays at the farm where Dick was born with his youngest sister Winifred MacDonald in Opotiki. I am now 72 years old live in Australia and still visit Opotiki and attend the Dick Travis VC Memorial 303 shoot at the Karori Rifle Club in Wellington yearly. I have lots of information on Dick and his family also a photo of his dog tag and a photo of him as a young man. His Medals are In the Southland Museum in Invercargill NZ. Dick was the forefront of the SAS type of soldier. Loved by his family and remembered with pride by his living relatives. Noel Bockett
