Entry in "Remembering The Men From Mobberley Who Went To Fight For Their Country"

Daniel Bailey (76625/344815) was born in Mobberley in 1896. He and his sister Annie were born before Sarah Ann married Enoch Simcock in 1900 when they lived with Sarah Ann’s widowed mother in Pepper Street. By 1911 there were more children but with Simcock surnames. Daniel served with the 3rd Cheshires before joining the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He died on 1st October 1918 and is buried at Anneux British Cemetery. His name was read out at the service of commemoration in 1921 but is not on the Mobberley memorial listing those who died. He is, however, included on the Ashley memorial.
