BATHING FATALITY AT COLWYN

BATHING FATALITY AT COLWYN

known 5th June 1917

A sad bathing fatality occurred at Colwyn Bay yesterday. Douglas Padfield (21), late of the R.A.M.C., a patient at the local military hospital, went for a swim alone and suddenly sank, apparently as the result of heart failure, before anyone was aware that he was in difficulties. His body was recovered two and a half hours later. Padfield's parents, who live at Moss Lane, Bramhall, Cheshire, spent the week-end at Colwyn Bay, returning only yesterday morning.
