British and Canadian service records reveal that Isadore Biron was a marine engineer. He was born in Swanson, Vermont, USA in 1873 and by the time he enlisted in the British Army Royal Engineering Corps aged 44 years and 4 months, he was an experienced veteran. Sapper Biron indicated that he had been employed for 4 months with 151st Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, 11 months with 233 Battalion and 2 years with the Royal Dragoons in Quebec. Sapper Biron was married to Alice Deschene and they had five children, ranging in ages from 15 to 2 years at the time of his enlistment with the Royal Engineers in 1917. Sapper Biron was buried in Canada and his widow Alice was awarded a pension in respect of herself and their children.
