Lives of the First World War

Arthur George Chastney was born in 1891 in Wimbledon, the son of Robert (b.1863) a House Painter and Mary Emma (b.1863) He was baptised at St Mary’s, Wimbledon on the 25th January 1891. His siblings were, Robert F b.1882, Ellen L b.1886, Frank W b.1891, Edith H b.1895, Phyllis b.1899, Kathleen D b.1900, Annie b.1902 and Marjorie b.1904. They lived at 43 Amity Grove, West Wimbledon. The 1911 Census confirmed that there were 12 children in total 2 of which had died, The 1911 Census also confirmed that Arthur was a Plumber. Arthur married Edith Kate Parker in 1912, they had 2 children,  Ernest G b.1913 and Doris S b.1915. The CWGC records confirm they lived at 178 Washington Rd, Worcester Park. Besides Arthur’s name being remembered on the Worcester Park Memorial, his name also appears in the Warrior Chapel, St Mary’s Church, Wimbledon
