Item published in Cambridge Independent Press, Friday 8 November 1918, p.5, under the heading 'Local Casualties, Grantchester' : Lance-Corpl. W. Wilson -- A letter was received by Mrs W. Wilson, of Lodge Cottage, Grantchester, on October 27th, from an officer of the Scottish Rifles, informing her that her husband, Lance-Corpl. W. Wilson, of the same regiment, was severely wounded on Sept. 21st and expressing his deepest sympathy. Since then official news has been received from the War Office that he was killed on that date. He enlisted on the outbreak of war, and had been twice wounded before. He leaves a widow to mourn his loss".
