Lance-Corporal J. McDonald, Dragoon Guards, killed in action on April 4th, was 35 years of age, and before the war he worked at the Barnsley Main Colliery. His home address was Spring Vale, Middleton (Lancs), but he formerly resided at 4, Verona Terrace, Gold Street, Barnsley. He enlisted on August 25th 1914, and only so recently as the 20th April of this year we announced his being awarded the Croix de Guerre Medal. In March he was home on leave.
