LaSallean Loses Both Legs

known 25th June 1918

Free trader-journal, June 25, 1918: "JJ Hoar of LaSalle today received a letter from his son John Hoar, who recently had a leg amputated in a French hospital following terrible wounds received in action with the Princess Pat regiment, stating that it had been found necessary to amputate the other leg, the right one, above the knee. A letter was also received at the same time written by the chaplain at the hospital confirming the sad news contained in John's brief letter and adding that his condition is very serious."
