K.L. Hutchings, the famous Kent and All England cricketer, has been 'near to death' several times, to quote from a letter sent by him to a friend. Altogether he has had four narrow escapes, three of which he describes as miraculous. On one occasion he heard a loud crack just by his left ear, and discovered, that a bullet had ripped the top of the sandbag on which he was resting his head. The announcement has just been made the K.L. Hutchings is confirmed in his temporary rank of Second - Lieutenant in the King's (Liverpool) Regiment.
