SOLDIER'S SUICIDE

Sad End of a Well-known Local Man. A verdict of "suicide whilst temporarily insane" was recorded at a Westminster inquest to-day in the case of Frederick Rotheram Cecil, 24, private in the 2nd Artists Rifles O.T.C., and formerly residing at Manor House, Dronfield. Deceased, who was educated at Cambridge University, was studying for army surveying, but suffered from influenza and absented himself without leave, disappearing on November 7. Nothing more was heard of him till yesterday morning, when his body was recovered from the Serpentine, Hyde Park, where it had been about a month. It was stated that deceased had been depressed through illness and strange in manner.
