EMBROIDERER'S DEATH IN BATTLE Mrs Harrison, 6 Blackshaw St, off Brown St, has been informed by Pte F Carroll, Stanley St, a Macclesfield soldier home on leave from the front, that her husband, Pte Albert William Harrison, Cheshire Regt, was killed in action on October 4th. Pte Carroll states that he was with Pte Harrison before the latter went into action and that his comrade's name was one of the first on the casualty list of those killed. Pte Harrison was twenty-seven years of age, and he leaves two children. In civil life he was an embroiderer at the London Road Mill of Councillor A W Hewetson, and was connected with St John's Church and Sunday School. Pte Harrison enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war and was drafted out to France fourteen months ago. He was expecting to come home on leave and had already obtained his pass.
