A St Andrean Missing at the Dardanelles.—Able Seaman James G. Alexander. Clyde Z/2267, R.N.V.R., Nelson Battalion, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Alexander, 11 Fleming Place, is officially reported as missing at the Dardanelles, Before enlisting he was a clerk at the railway station, and had just reached the military age. He wrote an interesting letter home a few days before he was reported missing, and mentioned that Professor Kay was the chaplain for his battalion, and that be had found a good friend in the Professor. He met Professor Kay the Saturday before he (Alexander) went into the trenches, and the Professor also visited him in his dug-out. There was a severe thunderstorm, but the artillery in the sky could not be heard for the artillery on the earth. Robert Alexander has another son serving in the Artillery, and he is himself doing duty as a National Reservist in England.
