George was the son of Fred and Ada Bradley of Newlands View, Thongsbridge, West Yorkshire. He attended Netherthong National School and Thongsbridge Sunday School. Before enlisting, he was employed as a weaver by Messrs James Watkinson and Sons, Bridge Mills, Holmfirth. Enlisting on 4 August 1914, he embarked for France in April 1915 with the local Territorials ‘F’ Company, 1/5th Bn Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, but transferred to the RAF in July 1917. He died of wounds on 23 September 1918 aged 22.
