8th June 1908 - 5th January 1909
The Little Gaddesden School Log Book records that on 8th June 1908 Arthur Whitman and Albert Barlow passed their Standard 5 Labour Exam. Arthur Maunders and Frederick Purton also took the exam but failed it. On 16th June, Arthur Whitman aged just 13 and Albert Barlow aged 13 years 9 months left school. Arthur Maunders left school on 1st September 1908, being over 14 years of age. Fred Purton was still at school in January 1909 as the log book entry for 5th January reports that he broke his collar bone badly tobogganing on Hudnall Common.
