Harold's story in the Newspaper Archives

1910 - 1917

There are a number of references to Harold primarily in the Bath Chronicle .First they describe his academic success and intention to become a meteorologist. Then his "lucrative" appointment with the South African government in that capacity and his decision to enlist. He was granted a special leave in April 1916 to visit his family in Bath . Last there are the reports that he was missing in action and then a poignant note that his wife Alice had originally hoped to join him in South Africa, Alice's story continues with her marriage to WWI veteran Roger Sterndale Baker see https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/146229
