The Battalion War Diary for the 4th KLR records that on the 17.04.1918 at Meteren, France, the advancing German Army surrounded the HQ of "D" Coy where 5 officers were holding a conference. The following were in attendance: Capt. G H Warburton 2nd L. G C Gibb Lieut. D H P ???? 2nd L. C R Fraser 2nd L. J Marrion. The first two were killed trying to escape and C R Fraser was eventually recorded as missing presumed dead. The assumption is that the other two were captured.
