George Pickering did of influenza on 21 November 1918 in the London General Hospital Wandsworth. He was buried at the City of London Cemetery in Manor Park, East London. The undertakers were Thomas Vigers and Sons who supplied a coffin of good polished elm. His body was taken to the graveside on a tender supplied by 44 squadron RAF and the burial service was conducted by Father C F Kelly of the Australian Imperial Force. The coffin was draped with the Australian Flag surrounded by wreaths and he was accorded with a full military funeral with a Firing Party and Bugler who played the Last post.
