Some biographical Details

Charles was born in 1896 at Walkeringham near Gainsborough. He was the son of William and Harriet Forrington. His father was a farmer and hay merchant. Charles was one of ten children. Charles attended Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Gainsborough. He enlisted at Gainsborough on 12th October 1914 at the age of 19. Charles stated his occupation as farming on his service record. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 15th May 1915. He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory medal.
