Flew as pilot – Buhl Aerodrome HP 0/400 D4568 23:08 out/01:05 return Visability poor at 4000/5000 feet and at low altitude was good. Approach from E. Dense darkness at the aerodrome necessitated decent to low altitude and circle the aerodrome for 15 minutes. Attack – one run E to W. 16 bombs 112 and 10 x 25 particurally on the hanger “s-bend” at 550 feet. 800 rounds MG fired. AA at Buhl very active. 03:09:1918 Flew as pilot to Morhange Aerodrome HP 0/400 D4568 19:40 out/21:40 return Visability very poor on way out – over target was fair. Approach from NW Attack – one run NW to SE. 8 bombs 112 In two salvos at 500 feet gliding down to release at 300 feet - 8 x112 and 10 x 25 Courcelles station and rail junction at 1000 feet. 13:09:1918 Flew as pilot to Courcelles 2nd Lt T V Preedy was observer HP 0/400 D4568 23:58 out/01:35 return Visability very poor, thick cloud banks and dense darkness. Approach from W. Attack – W to E. Bombs 112 + 25 Courcelles Station and rail junction at 1000 feet. 14:09:1918 Flew as pilot to Ehrang HP 0/400 D4568 19:52 out/22:15 return Ran into thick cloud – could not find target Returned with bombs Flew as pilot to Courcelles HP 0/400 D4568 01:50 out/03:50 return 2nd Lt T V Preedy was observer Visability poor necessitating very low flight to distinguish target. Approach from W. Attack – W to E. Bombs 112 + 25 Courcelles Station and rail junction at 50 feet followed by E to W run – again followed strafing at 50 feet – target lights and search lights in vicinity of bombing target. 3 search lights – AA very heavy but inaccurate.
