Walter Pilling died at Castle Bromwich whilst flying with No 5 Reserve Squadron. He was originally with the Canadian Army Medical Corps and is remembered in St. Catherine's Church, Bearwood, Wokingham, Berkshire (where there was a Hospital for Canadian Servicemen during the war). He is buried at the Haggate Baptist Chapel in Lancashire.
