Haggate Baptist Chapel Yard nr Burnley Lancashire

The headstone of the grave for Walter Pilling RFC who died on the 3rd April 1917 also gives us details of his parents Willie and Edith Pilling. This ties in with the census return for 1901 where the family are living at 22 Cleaver Street, Burnley. Walter Pilling served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force before joining the RFC and I believe this to be Walter Pilling regimental number 3226. The address on the Attestation paper is 22 Cleaver Street. The dates of birth do differ however and then differ again on the memorial plaque in St. Catherine's Church at Bearwood in Berkshire.
