Lives of the First World War

As seen in the image of his birth registration, William was born as William John Campbell. His parents were William James Campbell and Effie Trout. In 1913 William registered the death of his grandmother, Mary Ann Campbell, using the name Lockhart Campbell. Mary Ann's father was Thomas Lockhart and William seems to have adopted the Lockhart name by this point. Lockhard, as used by him in the army seems to be a modification of Lockhart.
