Fowler (1995) STANSFIELD WILLIAM INGHAM Pte 2nd Battalion Duke of Wellingtons(West Riding) Regt Killed In Action 29th August 1918 *608 9 Garden Terrace, Industrial St, Hebden Bridge. Unmarried. Salem Church. Member of Liberal Club billiards team. Worked in office of Redman Bros, wholesale clothiers. Enlisted March 1916 No 202418. Wounded by aerial attack November 1917. Returned To Unit May 1918. Hit by fire from aircraft, died in dressing station. Aged 37. (HBT 13 Sep 1918 Tod Advertiser 13 Sep 1918 SD38) *608 Hebden Bridge, Methodist Churches; WWI & II. Book of Remembrance in new church listing 77 dead from Foster Lane, Salem and Cross Lanes Methodist churches. The original memorials were buried under the cement floor! Malcolm Bull’s Calderdale Companion Stansfield, William Ingham [1881-1918] Son of Robert Stansfield. Born in Hebden Bridge. In 1911, he was living at 9 Industrial Street, Hebden Bridge, and working as a bookkeeper. During World War I, he served as a Private with the 2nd Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment). He died 30th August 1918. He is remembered on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, France [6] Stansfield, Robert [1851-1890] Born in Erringden. He was a weaver [1876]. On 7th September 1876, he married Sarah Ingham [1846-1909]. Sarah was born in Heptonstall Children: 1. Mary [b 1878] 2. Lydia [b 1879] 3. William Ingham 4. Hannah [b 1884] 5. Ruth Elizabeth [b 1886] The children were born in Hebden Bridge
