He was given an army pension and sent home but died shortly after. He lived at 10 Spring Lane ,Jackson Bridge, Holmfirth and was a copper smelter before the war. He died 1 October 1916, aged 40 years He is buried at Christ Church Churchyard Extension, New Mill. Grave location:- G, 387
