Mrs Blanchard of 84 Duke St Southport, received the sad news that her son, Corporal C W Blanchard of the Royal Scots, who was previously reported missing in July 1916, is now officially reported killed in action. Corporal Blanchard served his time at the Vulcan Motor Works, Crossens as a coach builder, but was working in Edinburgh when war broke out He joined the army on November 9th 1914 and went to France in February 1915. The deceased soldier was previously reported wounded in May 1915, during the battle of Ypres.
