1935 - 1950
My mother remembered, as a young girl, seeing the Dead Man's Penny and a photograph of soldier on a shelf or mantlepiece at her grandparent's house in Brora. Although she was too young to have taken an interest and asked about them, she understood that he had served with the Canadians, but had been puzzled by his name on the plaque being given as 'Smith'. The photograph was lost in the distant past, but we still have the Penny.
