Born in Blackheath, an area of SE London next to Greenwich and the river Thames. Parents and Two older brothers. Known to my father as uncle Guy - although they never met. It wasn't common knowledge in family that WGB had 'emigrated' to New Zealand. I think after death of his father and it was a time of emigration.the last entry in uk was in 1911 census. The move to NZ was only discovered after researching census and cwg comission. It appears from records he had a job in East of North Island as marine insurance broker. Was this perhaps due to growing up in proximity to Greenwich? NZ military records show info about join up dates and where the regiment travelled en route to France. Seems strange to have Left family in London to goto the other side of the world and come back to NE France, so close to London. Did they correspond much?
