"In theory an overseas casualty should have a medal card but in fact Samuel Cooke enlisted in the N Staffs Regiment after the war ended. It was at this time that he served abroad. His service record shows previous regiments and service numbers but in this time he didn't serve abroad so no medal card. His death in Famagusta is noted in the other service record for Yorks/S Staffs regiments confirming that he is the same man."
