Ted was the second son of Robert and Ann Ellis (nee Wand). They lived ib the small village of Hacconby, close to Bourne in Lincolnshire. He had an older brother Jack (John) who was an Engineer manning the pumps to drain the land in the Bourne area. There were two sisters, Elizabeth and Eliza. Charlie was the youngest of the family and as soon as he was 16 he followed his brother Ted into the army. As a family they attended Hacconby Church, where Dad, Robert, was Parish Clerk (as was his father, Robert). I don't know whether Ted was in the choir like his brother, Charlie.
