Obituary - Ramsgate Sailor Killed in Mediterranean Battle. We regret to record the death of Seaman Alfred Edward Hodges, who was killed in action on one of H.M. ships in the East Mediterranean Battle on January 20th. The official news was received by his father, ex- Ramsgate, fireman W.E. Hodges, who until recently resided at Cedar House, 154, High Street Ramsgate but is now living at 109, Nutley Lane, Reigate. Seaman Hodges had seen considerable active service and taken part in many sea engagements. He was in the first bombardment of the Dardanelles, and also took part in the North Sea Battle, when he was on HMS Indomitable, at which time an account was published and his photo included in our issue. He was only 21 years of age. There are many people in Ramsgate who will sympathise with Mr. Hodges in his sorrow at the death of his gallant son.
