Eldest son of Mr & Mrs R Rimmer, Newton Street, High Park. Pte Rimmer, who was 19 years of age, joined the King's Liverpool Regiment at the age of 17 years, but was released from the Army at his parent's request, after six months. On attaining his eighteenth birthday he was called up for military service and rejoined the K.L.R., but was later transferred to the Manchester's. He had only been in France two weeks at the time of his death. A letter conveying the news of his death stated that he was in the vicinity when a shell burst, and nothing of his belongings had been found. Ptr Rimmer was a scholar of All Saints School, and prior to joining up, was employed by a local coal dealer.
